Phoenix point is a single player forthcoming video game featuring a turn based strategic system that is developed by Snapshot games and is planned to be a successor to the X-COM series which is also originally a creation of Snapshot games. The game is set to release on December 3, 2019 and made available for macOS, Microsoft windows, along with Xbox and PS4 ports coming in 2020.

What is the story behind the game?

The story is set in 2047, unveiled with an alien invasion on earth on the edge of evading humanity where the aliens will adapt themselves by changing their genes and undergoing mutations evolutionarily to the strategies and technologies utilized by the players in order to defeat them or uses against them and make the players face enemies that evolve unexpectedly and come up with new features and forms to surpass their tactics. Adding to this the Pandora virus was discovered in 2022 by the scientists which claimed that any animal or human that came into contact with it mutated in horrifying creatures which infected the land by airborne mists. The alien mists and the monstrous creatures created by the Pandora virus resulted in the destruction of the civilization with a few groups of isolated havens barely distributed across the world. In the meantime, the numerous parties of mankind sparsely spread worldwide also engage in their own missions as they compete with other players for restricted resources in the apocalyptic planet. The players start the game as a leader in a Phoenix Project which is a global mysterious organization which was created to help humanity by activating the members of player’s who then get together at a foundation called Phoenix point. The players encounter a handful of challenges which may be strategic, tactical, or both, as they try to salvage themselves and also the rest of the humanity from extinction by the threat possessed by this alien invasion.

In phoenix point, the alien invasion and threat come as a part of the gameplay system designed to provide a vast range of challenges and revelations for players in tactical combat. Aliens encountered during the game posses two special abilities:

interchangeable body parts
aliens can change in size and shape

When the aliens become victorious in combat, they also can further undergo mutations enabling themselves to use weapons.

Meantime players in order to survive will have to locate and obtain the few resources left and also make smart choices when it comes to the utilization of these resources. While the players are able to obtain access to vehicles and various means of transportation, the players are also given the ability to create conflicts of other factions and also resolve conflictions in their journey of salvaging the humankind.
